Advisory Board

Ian Chen | Advisor | University of Toronto

Ian joined Project Hastings in its developmental stage, where he acted as an Outreach Director. He then began to take on adverse roles within the organization such as delegating tasks to volunteers, and assistance with the recruitment of volunteers. Soon, Ian became an Executive Director where he established long lasting sponsorships and collaborated with donors. Ian is passionate in the field of social work and is currently studying Political Science to extend his knowledge on the poverty crisis.

Derek Lin | Advisor | Simon Fraser University

Derek has been with Project Hastings since its inception, where he started out as a Social Media Coordinator and in-house photographer. As a result of his continuous management of Project Hasting's social media, he was nominated to become the director of social media coordination. Thus, he has developed partnerships with other non-profit organizations in Vancouver, which have unified youth groups and have led to collaborations that have helped the DTES. In the 2022-2023 term Derek will be a part of PH’s advisory board to aid Project Hasting’s ever-expanding organization.

Angel Wu | Advisor

It has been 18 months since Angel joined Project Hastings. She worked as a community engagement director for RED in G12, which contacted different sponsors and live-streamers, such as Ginny and Youzang. Angel participated in and planned fundraising in SWC and live streaming platforms. Besides, for operating RED, the followers have reached 350+, and she has invited lots of secondary school students to be reserve volunteers. She enjoys attending sandwich handouts because they can make the homeless feel warm and concerned, which can experience Hastings St. differently.
